AIF Empowers Cosmo City Residents with Entrepreneurship Training

Fifteen motivated individuals from Cosmo City were selected to participate in AIF’s “Give yourself a job” program, generously funded by KPMG. With the support of the Cosmo City Multipurpose Centre and community leaders, we conducted rigorous interviews to ensure participant commitment and motivation.

The program began with two weeks of intensive personal development training, designed to help participants discover their talents and set ambitious goals. Many participants revealed previous entrepreneurial experiences, demonstrating their unwavering passion for business.

The curriculum offered a balanced mix of theory and practical components. Participants delved into business planning, funding requirements, and financial management while also enjoying a field trip to the KPMG offices. During the visit, they had the opportunity to ask questions and gain inspiration from motivational stories.

To provide a solid foundation, AIF contributed R500 to each participant to kick-start their entrepreneurial ventures.

Upon graduation, all participants actively engaged in one-off business activities. Following the program, they successfully launched their own businesses, although some have faced challenges due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

While a planned pitching session to KPMG staff was unfortunately canceled due to COVID-19, we remain committed to monitoring participants and providing ongoing enterprise development support. We extend our sincere gratitude to KPMG for their invaluable contribution to this empowering project.
